Indoor Gardening – Bringing the Outside In
Horticulture therapy (or gardening with a therapeutic intention) has been shown to reduce agitation, depression and falls in people with dementia.
Empathy is a word most of us have heard, but do we fully understand & appreciate the power of this human ability/attribute and its relevance to our personal & professional lives.
Understanding, sharing, walking beside, non-judgement, compassion, kindness, active listening & patience are some of the words that are closely associated with empathy. Whether it be partners, families/friends, colleagues, etc. an ability to be empathetic can make a significant difference to relationships and how we can navigate the positives & negatives that inevitably make up our lives.
In this short video/animation, Dr Brene Brown, reminds us that we can only create a genuine, empathetic connection if we are brave enough to get in touch with our fragilities. Just under 3 minutes of incredibly valuable viewing from a professional &/or personal perspective. Please feel free to share with your colleagues, families, friends etc.
For people considering the engagement of a carer on a professional basis, seeking a person who has an empathetic attitude is essential. InPlace Care is a better way to find care, providing you with access to quality, professional in-home caregivers you can trust for your loved ones.
