Common symptoms include:

  • Pain in the joints
  • Swelling and redness
  • Warmth in the joints
  • Stiffness or reduction of mobility
  • Tiredness, general feelings of discomfort and being unwell

There is currently no cure for most forms of arthritis, so treatments focus on reducing the symptoms.

Ways to manage:

  • Manage pain with massage, hot and cold compresses or topical creams such as Deep Heat or Tiger Balm.
  • Stay active with low impact exercise such as yoga, tai chi, swimming or cycling, which build muscles to support your joints.
  • Get a good night’s sleep and manage fatigue of muscles and joints by resting when you need to.
  • Eat a balanced diet to ensure you are getting the nutrients you need.
  • Seek support if you’re feeling overwhelmed or upset.

While there is no instant cure, it is possible to live a full and active life with arthritis.
