Living Well with Mobility Limitations
Mobility Limitations can be a risk factor for several conditions and lead to increased isolation and loneliness. A carer helps to make your home more accessible.
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, Mindfulness is “the practice of maintaining a non-judgmental state of heightened or complete awareness of one’s thoughts, emotions, or experiences on a moment-to-moment basis.”
It is also often associated with the following words/phrases; calm, measured, self-awareness, clarity, now, stillness, composure, focus, presence & engagement.
It enhances a person’s ability to deal with a variety of situations, not to dwell on actions or emotions, accept the behaviour of others, show kindness and not to overreact.
Do your thoughts, feelings & actions reflect a mindful state? How well? How often? There is a questionnaire used to measure mindfulness called the Mindful Attention Awareness Score (MAAS).
The higher the score, the greater your ability to be mindful. If your score is lower than you expected, maybe it’s time to do some further reading & consider learning more about how you can improve your mindfulness.
One should never underestimate the importance of emotional health & wellbeing and how we can build on our strengths but also address areas to improve. Self-awareness is the pivotal starting point.
