Living Well with Mobility Limitations
Mobility Limitations can be a risk factor for several conditions and lead to increased isolation and loneliness. A carer helps to make your home more accessible.
In Australia, people aged over 75 are more likely to experience loneliness than any other age group. An increase in social isolation and loneliness as we get older can be caused by factors such as the loss of loved ones, physical illness, limited mobility, hearing or vision loss, retirement and depression or anxiety.

Feelings of loneliness can lead to an increased risk of conditions such as dementia, stroke, heart disease, depression and chronic pain, along with an increase in negative feelings such as anger, worthlessness, resentment, sadness and depression. As many of us noticed during the past year, the less we engage with people the more uncomfortable social situations can feel – so the issue can compound leading to increased isolation over time.
